New Online Data Tools, by Access Group

Description

The Access Group Center for Research & Policy Analysis (the Center) announced today the release of new online data tools aimed at making data more actionable. The free suite of data tools provides users from the legal education community a way to compare schools, monitor trends and produce customizable reports using data reported by law schools to the American Bar Association. Data may be used to analyze admissions, enrollment, financial aid, post-graduate employment and other information."We believe legal education data should be actionable and easy to use, and that data-informed decision-making will be increasingly important for law school leaders and the students they serve," says Christopher P. Chapman, president and chief executive officer for Access Group. "A core priority of the Center is to equip our various stakeholders—law school deans and administrators, researchers, students, and others—with the appropriate tools."The tools will allow users to easily access available legal education data, benchmark schools on key metrics, and conduct research. Users will be able to 1) Produce a downloadable report comparing a law school to a customizable group of institutions across a pre-defined or customized set of figures for the most recent report year, 2) Generate downloadable graphs and charts that display trends, and 3) Select a set of variables for multiple years in CSV and Excel formats to create a dataset with information for all law schools. Law schools may be selected from a list or based on variables such as school type, admission rate, and median LSAT score.
