Description

Practice Velocity   provides leading-edge medical software solutions— including our patented Practice Velocity template (PiVoT), modified electronic medical records (EMR), computerized medical coding (E&M, CPT, and ICD-9) software, and internet electronic medical record access to physician practices.

Over the past several years, Practice Velocity has experienced explosive growth. Over 2000 physicians in 50 states have joined the Practice Velocity revolution in urgent care and occupational medicine. Practice Velocity focuses on improving efficiencies in the following types of medical practices:

Urgent Care Centers have become a critical part of the delivery of outpatient medical care in the USA. As a cost-effective and convenient alternative to the hospital emergency department, at least one urgent care center is now found in almost every community in America. Practice Velocity has developed the first charting, coding, and practice management solutions developed by urgent care professionals, tested in urgent care centers, and used by hundreds of urgent care physicians every day. Approximately one-hundred urgent care centers use Practice Velocity Templates (PiVoTs) to document patient encounters. Urgent care medicine is unique, and systems developed in other medical practices are always a compromise when put into everyday use in an urgent care center. The aspects of urgent care that differentiate it from other medical practices include seeing walk-in (rather than scheduled) patient visits, generally performing higher acuity care, serving the occupational medicine needs of corporate America, staying open for expanded hours, coming under increasing insurance and regulatory scrutiny, facing significant financial challenges, and often staffing with part-time physicians. All of these challenges (and many others) mean that a system developed for an urgent care center must be unique. It must allow extremely rapid (yet complete) documentation of a patient visit. It must be extremely easy for a new physician to learn. It must be cost-effective. It must aid in coding compliance. Practice Velocity is a major donor and a founding Platinum Sponsor of the Urgent Care Association of America (UCAOA). Practice Velocity is committed to the success of this critical urgent care organization and to the success of the urgent care industry as a whole.

Employers are in need of medical care for their employees who experience injuries on the job. These injuries are generally covered under the workers compensation statutes of their respective states. Employers also need medical facilities to evaluate new or ill employees for job fitness. Rehabilitation and physical therapy are an important aspect of care delivered at these facilities. Drug screening and post-offer exams are needed by many employers. Many urgent care centers perform these functions, but some clinics focus exclusively on occupational medicine. The extensive hours of an urgent care center allow an urgent care center to deliver care even when needed after normal business hours, but dedicated occupational medicine clinics have the advantage of more focused healthcare delivery. Practice Velocity has developed extensive functionality to automate treatment protocols and code entry for corporate clients. These protocols can be extensively customized based on needs of corporate clients and on the type of patient visit. For example, when an initial workers compensation injury from Acme Plumbing reports to the clinic, the receptionist will print out a protocol that specifies the post-accident testing that the company requires for this type of visit. These minimize omissions and errors by the clinical staff, and code entry in billing is automated. Practice Velocity has also developed an extensive integration with the largest American workers compensation billing service--Unified Health Services. This allows for automated visit authorization requests, automated medical record delivery, and automated billing. A single weekly electronic EOB for all workers compensation claims dramatically reduces time spent in payment posting by automating the process.Primary Care Physicians

The cost-effective medical charting, medical coding ASP solutions of Practice Velocity meet the needs of ninety percent of primary care physicians, who do not currently have everyday access to the benefits of a traditional EMR. PiVoTs give the benefits of automated coding, internet chart storage, and automated code entry into a billing system. Secure internet medical record access adds tremendous value to on-call physicians.

Outpatient Specialty Physicians Specialty physicians (including cardiologists, obstetrician / gynecologists, pulmonologists, general surgeons, orthopedic surgeons, etc.) find that the efficient documentation and coding of the PiVoT allow them to rapidly chart and code even the most complex visits. The semi-automated transcription process can save about 80% of physician transcription time in a typical practice.
