Korbitec The origins of Korbitec track back to the founding of Compustat when two childhood friends in their final year at the University of Cape Town in 1976 formed a company that merged stationery with data via a personal computer.
Compustat, as it was then known, was engaged from the outset in cutting-edge software development and was responsible for some of the most successful South African software applications in the 1980s and 1990s.
Better known applications and services developed during this time include:Internet AfricaThe first commercial Internet Service Provider in South Africa was sold into UUNET which has become the largest ISP on the continent today.
